This is a little mountainous island that has it all - jungle, beaches, great resorts, quaint villages, colourful markets and even a 'drive-in' volcano - a dormant volcano which still spews up sulfurous gases and bubbles with mineral-laden mud. Also, near the famed Pitons is the little fishing village of Soufriere (Soufriere, by the way, is a popular name throughout the Caribbean). Possibly the most original town of the West Indies; many of the old wood buildings with peeling paint and patchwork have been standing for more than 200 years. For the island's best offering in beach life, check out the northern end.
